The Peter Principle Revisited: A Computational Study

In the late sixties the Canadian psychologist Laurence J. Peter advanced an apparently paradoxical principle, named since then after him, which can be summarized as follows: ’Every new member in a hierarchical organization climbs the hierarchy until he/she reaches his/her level of maximum incompetence’. Despite its apparent unreasonableness, such a principle would realistically act in any organ...

An automaton group: a computational case study

We introduce a two generated weakly branch contracting automaton group $G$ which is generated by a two state automaton on a three letter alphabet. Using its branch structure and the finiteness nature of a sequence of its factor groups we compute the order of some of these factors. Furthermore some algebraic properties of $G$ are detected .

An Integrated Approach of Visual Computational Modelling

This work introduces a high level model of Visual Perception , based on a multidisciplinary approach. The purpose of this model is to extract and to integrate some of the properties of the visual process that incorporates its flexibility and autonomy . Its structure includes a figurative component, which builds the mental representation of the surroundings, and an operative component, which reg...

Biobetters From an Integrated Computational/Experimental Approach

Biobetters are new drugs designed from existing peptide or protein-based therapeutics by improving their properties such as affinity and selectivity for the target epitope, and stability against degradation. Computational methods can play a key role in such design problems-by predicting the changes that are most likely to succeed, they can drastically reduce the number of experiments to be perf...
